YouTubeAt no other time in Oregon spring football history has the anticipation been this high for the annual spring game on Saturday April 28th in Autzen Stadium.   And rightly so – Chip Kelly and his assistant coaches have been fairly tightlipped about his 2012 squad leaving fans and the media wondering just how potent the Ducks will be heading into the fall.

Last year at this time, the annual spring game saw more than 43,000 fans – a record crowd for the spring festivities that’s dedicated to our military service men and women and provides a platform to collect non-perishable food for Food for Lane County.    With the weather service predicting a warm sunny day in Eugene at Autzen Stadium, it’s likely last years attendance will be surpassed by this years crowd.

Oregon offensive lineman Carson York say’s he’s excited for his last spring game and is ready to go – but said it’ll be at another position.  “Playing a new position and you’ll see that on Saturday” said York after Wednesday’s practice session.   “It’s not on the offensive line,…a little more involved maybe.  I’ll see if I can get a couple scores maybe.”

Of course York is coming off a severe right knee injury that he sustained in January’s Rose Bowl against Wisconsin.   Head coach Chip Kelly led the media to believe that York wouldn’t be available for the spring game, however York did say in his post practice comments he’s feeling good and will play an undisclosed position.   “I’m really happy the way its gone” said York.  “For a while I wasn’t super optimistic and the doctors kept promising it was going to get better and once it hit that point it got better really fast.”

York admitted he hasn’t been part of a winning squad in the spring game since his first year.  “I’m ready to win again” said York.     Asked for a score – York predicted with a wry smile,… “400 to nothing.”
