Rarely does Oregon wide receivers coach Scott Frost talk to the media, but when he does, he’s always engaging about his craft and his team.

Frost, in his fourth year at Oregon, has played a significant role in the vast improvement in both recruiting and play on the field of Duck receivers.

While Chip Kelly’s blur offense is typically a run first scheme, Frost has certainly been responsible for molding a number of former Duck athletes into NFL receivers – David Paulson, Drew Davis and Ed Dickson to name a few.

Frost, who played quarterback at the University of Nebraska ( 1996-97 ), is mostly recognized for the job he did with his 2011 receiving corps who came into that season unheralded and inexperienced.

Frost molded that group into a squad that caught just 12 fewer passes than 2010 when the Ducks had a formidable group of receivers led by Jeff Maehl who caught a season high 77 balls with just over 1,000 receiving yards.

In his time at Oregon, Frost has created a mentality of toughness for Duck receivers who’ve learned not only to be productive catching the ball, but also productive in their downfield blocking.

“I’m really proud of them” said Frost when asked this week about this years group of Duck receivers.

“This was a group that had to prove themselves.  I think it’s become one of the strengths of the team.  We’ve got a bunch of guys that are capable of going into a game and contributing so I’m really happy how they’ve come along.”

Frost spoke with Oregon Duck Football News on Monday at the Fiesta Bowl media day, not only about his core group of receivers, but also how they’ll match up with the Kansas State defense.
