Oregon safety Brian Jackson met with reporters this week to share his thoughts on the departure of former head coach Chip Kelly and what that departure may mean to the Duck football program.

While fans and boosters continue to grieve the sudden loss of Kelly to the NFL, Jackson say’s his team will continue to move forward without the enigmatic head coach who led the Oregon football program to four consecutive BCS bowl appearances.

“He believed he was going to leave us in good condition” Jackson explained when asked about Kelly’s farewell speech.

“Coach Kelly did a great job at how he helped us prosper, how we grew.   He knows it’s pretty much a player-run organization.   He said it’s us that keeps this program going and I fully believe him on that.”

Jackson’s comments, although thoughtful and poignant at times, maintained the changing of the guard will have no effect on them as a unit and things will continue as business as usual.

“I don’t think it will change anything or break up any momentum,..we’ll keep rolling” said Jackson.    ”Us as players, we know exactly what we’re supposed to do.  We have the upper classmen to lead the stretches ( in off-season workouts ) and they lead the process of what we have to do.”

One Response to OREGON SAFETY BRIAN JACKSON; “It’s Us That Will Keep This Program Going”

  • Michael Oaks says:

I am so impressed with Brian Jackson and how he handled himsel in front of the media. He was articulate and to the point. I’m sure that even though he did not want to comment about a drastic change in the coaching philosophy, he was no doubt hoping the AD would hire someone that is like minded with Chip Kelly’s thinking on how the game has been played the last four years. Great job Brian
