Changing course or direction in a flash is certainly the trait of every great running back, including DeSoto Texas four star athlete Dontre Wilson.
In a “live” television broadcast Monday evening from Dallas Texas, Wilson showed he’s as shifty off the field as he is on it as he changed direction from his earlier commitment to Oregon and selected Ohio State as his school of choice for college football.
Not surprising considering Oregon lost its former coach Chip Kelly to the NFL.
On Fox 4 news Dallas during their 9:00 pm sportscast, Wilson laid out three baseball style caps to select – Oregon, Texas and Ohio State.
After a moment of suspense, Wilson donned the Ohio State cap and told the viewing audience he was headed to Columbus to play for Urban Meyer.
During the selection process, Wilson admitted he was ‘hurt a little’ when he learned former coach Chip Kelly was leaving Oregon to take the job with the Philadelphia Eagles.
“To me, it was wrong,” Wilson said Monday evening referring to Kelly not telling him he was considering a job with the Philadelphia Eagles.   “It kind of hurt me a little.  But I’m over it now.”
Although the Ducks lose Wilson, it seems they’ll hold onto four-star wide receiver Darren Carrington who also considered other programs.   Carrington tweeted Monday he was 100% commited to Oregon in the fall.
With national signing day just two days away, there’s also been speculation about the strength of commitment from twin four-star athletes Tyrell and Tyree Robinson who both commited to Oregon last September.
Both re-opened their recruiting visits when they learned Kelly was leaving Oregon for Philadelphia.
Recruits can begin submitting their “Letters of Intent” on Wednesday.
