Oregon offensive lineman Nick Cody and defensive lineman Axel McQuaw won’t be with the team when they reconvene in Phoenix on December 26th for the 42nd Annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Duck head coach Chip Kelly announced on Friday both players didn’t meet the academic standards necessary to remain eligible to travel with the team to face Kansas State on January 3rd.

In the statement released by the Oregon football office, it announced both players failed ”to meet the minimum NCAA academic requirements necessary to participate in the postseason.”

On Friday, the Ducks practiced one final time in Eugene before they broke camp for the Christmas holiday.

Oregon offensive guard Nick Cody blocks for running back Kenjon Barner.

Sadly enough, Friday’s practice for Cody, ( a senior ), was his final organized function as an active member of the Oregon squad.

Cody, a fourth-year letterman from Brush Prairie, Wash., accumulated 18 starting assignments at right guard and tackle over the past four years, including the first six games of the 2012 season.

McQuaw, ( 6’6 – 275 lbs ) a non-scholarship player from Waldport, Oregon had been with the Ducks the last three seasons.

McQuaw didn’t make any appearances in games this year after making three stints in a reserve role in 2011.

All active players on the Oregon squad are scheduled meet in Scottsdale next Wednesday to continue their final practice preparations for the Wildcats.
