Former Oregon running back LaMichael James was a sideline guest of his former team Saturday evening as the Ducks completely dominated USC 62-51 in Los Angeles.
And what better game to be a guest at than the one where his best friend and former teammate Kenjon Barner broke his single game rushing record with 321 yards and 5 touchdowns. ( James rushed for 288 yards in 2011 against Arizona )
“He’s the best in the country” said James referring to Barner after the game. “I think he’s the best player. I think he deserves the Heisman. That was the best performance I’ve ever seen in my life.”
James told reporters after the game he was happy it was Barner who broke his record because of the friendship they share on and off the field.
“I’m happy that he broke that record” said James. “Anytime your best friend can break your record, it means more.”
Asked about this years Oregon team, James said the difference is speed. “They’re playing more as one. You can’t just key on Kenjon because you have De’Anthony, then you have Marcus,…and Marcus running the ball like he does opens up more runs for Kenjon.”
