Oregon defensive line coach Joe Salave’a understands the value of winning in the trenches.
Games are most certainly won there,…but can also be lost there without talent, technique, culture, and tenacity.
According to Salave’a, Oregon has a plethora of those characteristics in his defensive line room from both his veterans and younger players.
Just nine days away from this seasons opening game vs Stanford, ( Saturday, November 7th – 4:30 pm ) Salave’a is confident his team of front line defenders are ready to make some noise in this shortened season.
“Right now there’s a group of guys there in our room that are really, really getting after it” said Salave’a on Thursday.
“All those guys there,…Dorlus, Jordon, Kristian ( Willams ), Keyon ( Ware-Hudson ), Popo ( Aumavae ),…those guys are really getting after it. They’re competing,…the competition level really picked up and it needs to be. That’s the biggest thing now,…everybody’s trying to make a case for themselves.
The games always gonna be won and lost at the line of scrimmage, and those guys right now have been a really been a positive thing. And we’re just trying to find a way to grind it and improve each day,…and if we can continue to do that, we’ll give ourselves a chance.”
