There’s no lack of confidence when it comes to describing Oregon ( Sr. ) cornerback Deommodore Lenoir.
Once thought to be headed to the NFL Draft after opting out of his final season, Lenoir returned to Eugene this fall to end his Oregon career on his own terms.
And those terms in a nutshell?
Lenoir simply wants to take over and be the best!
“On the field, as far as meeting my eye discipline, I felt like I had a lot of stuff to work on from last season” explained Lenoir when asked this week about opting back in to play in the shortened season.
“Last season was just kind of …I wouldn’t say like getting my feet wet,…it was something just to like make a statement,…but this year I’m planning to take over.”
In his three years at Oregon, Lenoir has only snatched five interceptions while playing a total of 40 games. By his standards, that isn’t a number to brag about, however he’s getting conference and national attention as one of the best lockdown corners in college football.
His coach certainly agrees.
“I see a guy I feel is going to be one of the best, if not the best corners in the country,” said Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal.
“I’m not saying it because I love the guy. I’m not saying it because he’s an Oregon Duck. I trust my eyes and the way that he has developed. The way he has attacked the processes regarding his betterment, development, and the game plan.
“I’m really excited about this guy. I’m really excited about him. I always have been, but there’s just a different gear that has kicked in, a different level that he is going to and I look forward to watching him on Saturday.”
Hearing that from his head coach, and asked to respond, Lenoir said he feels “it’s a blessing just to hear he looks at me that way.”
