You couldn’t write a better ending to the 2020 college football season for Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough.
As the No. 1 rated athlete coming out of Arizona back in 2017, Shough has the opportunity to return home and lead the Ducks to a win over No. 10 Iowa State.
What an ending to a crazy season and what a special memory that would be for Shough.
“I remember going to it as a kid when Oregon played Kansas State,” said Shough when asked about his memories of the Fiesta Bowl.
“I’ve always had that fantasy of playing in that stadium, and obviously getting the chance to go to the Fiesta Bowl would be huge. That didn’t really become a reality until I got to college.”
And now as the starter for the Ducks, Shough has the chance to make that dream come true on Saturday.
“This is an amazing opportunity,” he said. “It’s definitely something that I’ve been looking forward to since I was a kid just because we have that bowl game. We have a lot of prestigious games in the state of Arizona. So I got to watch those as a kid, and it was pretty amazing.”
As for facing Big 12 runner-up Iowa State, it’ll be the steepest challenge yet for Shough and the Ducks.
“They present a lot of angles,” explained Shough when asked about facing the Cyclones.
“They present a lot of coverages, and they fit in different ways. So we’re just going to have to execute our offense and execute what we do and then adjust accordingly to what they’re doing. So we feel confident in our game plan, and we’re going to attack it and play accordingly.”
Shough spent 15 minutes speaking with the media this week talking about going home and facing a significant challenge against the Cyclones.
