OREGON CHANGES DECISION TO RESTRICT FANS FROM ATTENDING SATURDAY’S SPRING GAME – State of Oregon Heightens Safety Measures Regarding Covid Protocols

On Tuesday the University of Oregon Athletic Department changed course and said ‘no’ to fan attendance for Saturday’s annual spring football game.

With the heightened state restrictions from Oregon Governor Kate Brown regarding Covid-19, she moved the level of concern to ‘extreme risk’ which changes the levels of public group gatherings.

Initially it was determined the Oregon athletic department would allow approximately 15% of Autzen Stadium capacity to attend which equaled approximately 8,000 fans. Now, because of the ‘extreme risk’ assessment, that directive has been rescinded until further notice.

According to the media release sent out by the athletic department, fans who initially received tickets will now be turned away if they come to Autzen Stadium and try to gain entry.

“Following directives Tuesday from the Governor’s Office of the State of Oregon, tied to Lane County’s move to the designation of Extreme Risk, fans will not be permitted at the annual Oregon Football Spring Game on Saturday” said the release.

The game will kickoff at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 1st and be televised by the Pac-12 Network. The game will also be available via the Oregon radio network.
