PROGRESS AS A WHOLE STILL BEING MADE SAYS CRISTOBAL – “The effort is there, the attention to detail is there and the physicality has improved”

Just days before the No. 11 Ducks suit up to take on Fresno State, progress continues to be made in all areas says Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal.

“That we’re practicing hard,…we’re executing at a fairly high level,…and need to clean up some things,…touch up some things,” said Cristobal on Wednesday, when asked about his teams, work ethic, and preparedness for game number one of the 2021 season.

“The effort is there. The attention to detail is there. The physicality has improved. I don’t know if we’ll ever reach the point where we’re satisfied with that, but certainly, we see progress. We see a hunger in our approach and that’s what you want when you’re playing.

“That’s what you want when you’re preparing for a game against an opponent that has some really really good players. Again, we haven’t played in front of our fans in a long long time. I think they’ve done a good job of cutting out the outside noise. And we judge that by the way they pay attention in meetings. By the way we carry out and execute in practice. So, we’re expecting nothing but our very best.”

OREGON OFFENSIVE LINEMAN ALEX FORSYTH; “We’ve got a good challenge coming up. Fresno State has a really good defensive front”

Oregon ( Junior ) center Alex Forsyth started in each of the seven games during the 2020 shortened college football season which ultimately led to a conference championship for the Ducks.

And although the Ducks won a second consecutive league title and went to a top-tier bowl game ( Fiesta Bowl ), Forsyth feels the chemistry of having an entire spring season and fall camp is paying dividends on and off the field.

“Just building chemistry during this offseason has been huge for us” explained Forsyth this week.

“Coming into last year we had one combined start between the six of us. Now, having at least a half year under our belt – we’re really excited. Having this full fall camp is huge,…every practice, every walk-through. Building that chemistry, it’s been great.”
