The Ducks have landed at the Alamo!
After a very short Christmas break, the No. 14 ranked Oregon Ducks arrived in San Antonio on Christmas Day to begin their game week preparation in taking on the No. 16 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
The Ducks arrived at their team hotel late Saturday afternoon after taking a charter aircraft from Eugene to the Southern Texas city of San Antonio.
The Ducks and Interim head coach Bryan McClendon were greeted by fans and the media just steps away from the Riverwalk.
“It was good” said McClendon when asked about the trip down to San Antonio.
“We had a charter flight that brought some of the guys in and the families so everybody’s excited about being here. We’re ready to get everything started. We’ll have a meeting that’s starting up and then we’re going into some walk-throughs and running and everything else like that. Just trying to make sure we’re doing everything we can to have a really good preparation for the end of the preparation of this bowl game.”
The Oregon players who didn’t arrive on the charter and left Eugene to go home to be with their families for Christmas were expected to arrive on their own on also on Saturday.
After a brief meeting and settling into their team hotel, the Ducks were scheduled to travel to nearby Trinity University for a closed practice under the lights.
McClendon addressed a number of topics including the health of the team and facing Oklahoma next Wednesday at the Alamodome.
