(AT THE HALF) – NO. 11 OREGON TRAILS NO. 3 GEORGIA 28-3 – Size Differential, Poor Tackling, and Bad Decisions Put Ducks in a Huge First Half Hole

Georgia started the game with a 12-play, 85-yard touchdown drive where the Bulldogs showed their tremendous size and used it to their full advantage.

Throw in a couple of poor throws from Bo Nix that turned into interceptions and it doesn’t take a football genius to figure out the first half didn’t go Oregon’s way.

Georgia 28, Oregon 3.

The Duck offense looked promising after its initial drive, but the UGA defense held and forced a punt. After that, it just got worse for Oregon.

Again, a promising drive was halted by Nix’s first pick of the game. He tried to hit Seven McGee down the left sideline, but the throw was underthrown some and Georgia corner Malaki Starks made a good play on the ball.

Seven plays and 92 yards later, the Bulldogs made it 14-0. Georgia’s huge offensive line protected quarterback Stetson Bennett and the senior was allowed to just stand in the pocket and pick the Oregon defense apart.

The Ducks managed to drive down to the UGA 44, but Nix threw into double coverage. Georgia then made it 3-for-3 on touchdown drives.

It was just 30 minutes of football where if there was something that could go wrong, it went wrong. Hopefully, for the Ducks’ sake, some halftime adjustments can be made and Oregon can make a game of it. Better decisions and better tackling need to be on the docket for the Ducks.

But right now, a lot needs to occur in the Ducks’ favor in order for that to happen. If not, the Bulldogs will run Oregon right out of the building. But that might already be the case.
