CONSISTENCY IS A KEY PIECE OF THIS OREGON FOOTBALL TEAMS SUCCESS – “We want to be playing better ball at the end than we are right now, so that’s what we’re looking for is growth”

There’s always room for improvement!

A daily acclamation from Dan Lanning to his Oregon football team.

In fact, if you were to walk up the front steps to the home of Coach Lanning, it’s likely instead of a ‘welcome to our home’ sign, you’d find the aforementioned signature statement.

It’s in his DNA.

That’s not to say Lanning doesn’t see the good and appreciate the spoils that come with winning.

But he understands that to continue to win and play football at an elite level, there must always be improvement.

A constant drive to get better,…to be better!

And he admitted as much on Monday evening during his early week press briefing.

“We don’t concern ourselves with the opinion of others” explained Lanning when asked about the overwhelming number of congratulations he received after the takedown of No. 9 UCLA.

“Our focus has always been within and today we went to the doctor. We saw a lot of things we can get better at. Some people texted me the morning after the game and said ‘how do you feel after that win’,… and I said I just watched the film so I’ve got some concerns.

There’s a lot of stuff we gotta fix. A lot of stuff we can get better at.”

An area where Lanning does find a bright spot is the area of consistency. This Duck team has shown themselves to work hard and show improvement from week to week.

“Again, the piece that I’m excited about is consistently every single week we’ve improved,” said Lanning. “Really across the board. And we’ve got to continue to improve as we move forward.”

HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF SAYS NIX – “Tough practice today – physical practice going against each other, some hard work days like today”

There’s nothing like hard work.

In any career, if you work hard your hard work will pay eventually off.

And that seems to be the mantra and philosophy of this Duck team which is currently on a six-game win streak and positioned firmly at No. 8 in the national rankings.

“It’s just practice” explained Nix when asked about the winning streak.

“Like today, we go back to work. Tough practice today,…physical practice. Going against each other. Just some hard work days like today is what’s allowed us to start fast,….and get into the game,…be ready to roll,…be more aggressive, more physical than the other team. That’s what we try to be, and so far it’s worked out for us.”
