OREGON TICKETED TO THE HOLIDAY BOWL TO FACE NORTH CAROLINA – No. 15 Ducks Will Square Off Against the 9-4 Tar Heels in San Diego

Considering it’s not the College Football Playoff or the Rose Bowl, San Diego is a nice landing spot in December.

Oregon will go to the Holiday Bowl and will play North Carolina.

The Tar Heels finished the regular season 9-4 after being crushed in the ACC title game by Clemson.

Even with the loss, UNC will present a formidable matchup for the Ducks as they feature one of the top young quarterbacks in the nation in freshman Drake Maye.

It was a mystery for a while who the Ducks will play as the Holiday and Gator Bowls were having “discussions.” Both wanted Notre Dame and it seems as if the Gator won that competition.

This will be the first time the Ducks and Tar Heels meet on the gridiron, but this is far from being the first time Oregon has made it presence known at this bowl game.

Oregon will make its fourth appearance in the Holiday Bowl, and first since a 42-31 win over Oklahoma State in 2008.

The Ducks also beat Texas in the 2000 Holiday Bowl and lost to Oklahoma in 2005.

The game is now held at Petco Park for the first time, the home of the San Diego Padres.

It used to be played at the old Jack Murphy Stadium where the Chargers played, but when that team moved to Los Angeles, the stadium was demolished.

Oregon and North Carolina will play on Dec. 28 and will be televised on Fox at 5 pm PST.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Oregon and North Carolina.
