Oregon football is now 4-0, a Top 10 team in both the AP poll and the Coaches Poll. The Ducks have set themselves up to have a special season.
It’s not that the Ducks have defeated Portland State, Texas Tech, Hawaii and now Colorado that has set them up for a big season, but it’s how they have defeated those teams.
Especially the Buffaloes.
Deion Sanders brought his media circus and his team to Autzen Stadium and it didn’t phase the Ducks in the slightest. Oregon made the former No. 19 team and undefeated Colorado team look like the team that finished 1-11 last season.
The offense was meticulous and efficient. The defense was just dominating and those traits aren’t going to stop any time soon.
Oregon plays Stanford this week and the Ducks are 35-point favorites. Assuming the Ducks defeat the Cardinal, they’ll be 5-0, have a bye week coming up, and will have two whole weeks to prepare for an epic clash in Seattle with the Huskies, who some say might be the best team in the country right now.
Those who say that might be right.
Washington hasn’t looked good this season. The Dawgs looked great.
Both teams should be undefeated and it might be the biggest Pac-12 regular season clash in quite some time. ESPN Gameday will surely make their way to Seattle for this matchup.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Ducks are favored, even the Husky game. They say Oregon has a 50.6 percent chance of winning. So, it’s a toss-up. But that .6 percent could be all the difference.
If Oregon can escape Seattle with a win, realistically, the only other team that has a good chance at giving the Ducks a loss is USC in November. Thankfully the Trojans will be at Autzen.
