( NATIONAL SIGNING DAY ) DAN LANNING BREAKS DOWN THE DUCKS 2024 CLASS – “We did a good job of identifying targets that fit our needs, what we were looking for, but also fit our values”

It was a good day for Oregon football and Dan Lanning.

Moments after entering the media room in the Hatfield Dowlin Complex, Lanning looked out into the room and confidently said “It was a good day for the Ducks.”

And while that’s certainly true, it was also a good day for Lanning himself.

Only in his second recruiting cycle in Eugene, Lanning was able to sign a total of twenty-six incoming athletes and ultimately landed the nations fourth best class according to 247 Sports. .

“I just think it speaks to the consistency of our approach” explained Lanning when asked about his success in this 2024 class.

“Ultimately you always want to focus on the guys you get and not the guys you don’t. We did a good job of identifying targets that fit our needs – what we were looking for, but also fit our values of what we want in this program.”

Want and need are two different types of players when it comes to recruiting and it was the latter that Lanning and his staff were focused on.

Across the country this Oregon coaching staff secured a Top 5 class that will most certainly be felt in the coming three to four years.

“I think it shows the staff and the program’s work that they put forward and the vision for the program and where we’re headed,” said Lanning.

“Obviously the best way to enhance your team is to enhance your talent and it goes into developing that talent. So when we have that we have a great chance to be successful here.”
