Watching Oregon head football coach Dan Lanning step to the media day podium and proclaim Duck football is here is like watching a young child on Christmas morning.
There’s a massive smile as you see tons of presents under the tree and you simply can’t wait to get to the unwrapping part.
That was Lanning on Monday afternoon at Autzen Stadium during Oregon’s media day which officially kicks off the 2024/25 campaign.
“This is kind of a new reset for us’ said Lanning as he began his opening remarks.
“Fall camp is here. It’s a sign that football is here which is awesome. We’re really four weeks away from hopping into game plan opportunities for Idaho but these next four weeks are really critical to the success of our program.
What we’re going to be doing moving forward,….and that’s really where 100% of my focus is at.”
And while Lanning still has to prove all of the early high praise for this years squad is correct, there’s no mistaking his enthusiasm and excitement for what’s to come over the next four weeks.
“Certainly excited about the direction of our team and where we’re headed” said Lanning.
“I feel like we have a healthy team right now. You talk about eliminating distractions and that’s really a big part of these next few weeks is for our guys is focusing on the things we can control and what makes our team a great team this year as we approach that.”
“One of my goals is to make sure I don’t give any of you guys any bulletin board material today so let’s see if I can do that effectively.”
