While the No. 3 Ducks are the prohibitive favorite on Saturday against the Vandals of Idaho, new Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel is well aware that upsets can happen.
And they can especially happen in a season opener.
“I’ve been at a lower program at UCF,…and you look forward to these kinds of games,” said Gabriel on Tuesday after the Ducks practice.
“I’m very aware that people come in and want to play their heart out for the game. For me, it’s maximizing the opportunity, executing every day, and just focusing play to play.”
While Oregon is favored by nearly 7 scores against the Vandals, Gabriel understands anything can happen in a season opener.
“You can’t come out sleepwalking” explained Gabriel.
“I think that happens from year to year. People come out just sleepwalking. If you fall to that you dig yourself in a hole. It’s all about starting fast, dominating the middle eight, and finishing strong.”
