After the Ducks disappointing loss to Washington last Saturday, one might think coming back to practice would be less energetic or productive.
If you thought that, you would be wrong.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning told the media on Monday his team had their best and most explosive practice of the season for a Monday session.
That passion continued into Tuesday. So much so, that Lanning had to direct his team to dial it back just a bit.
“I’d say the passion and intensity was a little too much yesterday ( Tuesday )” explained Lanning at his Wednesday afternoon briefing.
“We’ve got to level that out because there’s a rule of diminishing returns where when you have so much juice you can’t focus on the job at hand.” And today that was much better. Now there was definitely intensity out there on the field but it’s the leveling of that out and feeling where that passions at.”
While some players may take several days to regenerate that passion after a difficult loss, these Ducks came to work this week to prove they are one of the premier teams in the country this season.
“I think that was the hardest Monday practice we’ve seen” said Oregon DT Brandon Dorlus.
“When you look at the GPS,…seeing how fast we were moving, that was the most hardest practice we’ve had. That just shows you that loss really meant a lot to everybody. The seasons not done with,….we’ve got a lot of football left to be played. We’re gonna show the world what’s up.”
On Wednesday, after the teams third practice of the week, Lanning met with the media to discuss the Ducks progress and thoughts on facing Washington State on Saturday.
