AFTER SUFFERING A HEARTBREAKING ACL INJURY, OREGON RB NOAH WHITTINGTON IS READY TO ATTACK THE NEW SEASON – “I’m kinda appreciative that it happened – I feel like it brought the love back to the game”

Oregon’s one-two punch at running back last season was arguably the best in the nation with Noah Whittington and Bucky Irving.

But that dynamic duo came to an abrupt end on September 23rd when Whittington suffered a torn ACL in the blowout win against Colorado at Autzen Stadium.

As things go, that single injury might be a blessing in disguise for both Oregon and Whittington coming into the 2024 season.

Irving led the Ducks rushing attack with 1,216 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games and was a sparkplug in leading the Oregon offense to national recognition.

Now in 2024 Whittington is healthy and will have his chance to shine in what is expected to be one of the best offenses in the country.

Last season Whittington was the second spoke in the wheel of a very good offense, but now he has the ability to be the marquee star.

“I kinda knew, I just didn’t want to believe it” said Whittington on Monday during Oregon’s media day when he was asked about his season-ending injury last year.

“Things happen. I’m kind of appreciative that it happened. I feel like it brought the love back to the game some more,…because I’ve never been hurt before so it was just a continuous cycle.

“Taking that break it’s just like,…I know for sure that this is what I love to do.”

As for his return, Whittington was all smiles and proclaimed he’s ready to attack the season.

“I’m very excited, honestly because for me, this is my last ride” explained Whittington when asked about his excitement level entering 2024.

“I’m just giving it everything I’ve got and just taking it in one day at a time – enjoying the little things like meetings, lifts, the dinners,….just taking it all in and enjoying it.”
