Oregon came into tonight’s game far from full strength with three regulars unavailable, but it didn’t matter much.
The Ducks won their 27th straight game dating back to last season with a 92-69 win over the Trojans. Oregon is now 8-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference action.
Despite playing without Sedona Prince, Taylor Chavez and Sydney Parrish for various reasons, the Ducks clamped down on defense to hold USC to just 19 first half points.
Oregon took a 42-19 halftime lead and although the Trojans managed to find some offensive rhythm in the second half, it wasn’t nearly enough.
Six different Ducks scored in double figures with Taylor Mikesell’s 16 points leading the way. Nyara Sabally powered her way to 15 points and six rebounds with Te-Hina Paopao adding 14.
Jaz Shelley and Erin Boley each scored 13, including Boley leading the Ducks with eight rebounds.
In her best game of the season, freshman Kylee Watson scored 11 points.
On the other side of the floor, Endyia Rogers led USC with 21 points. Amaya Oliver added 13 and Jordan Sanders scored 11. The Trojans (3-5, 1-5) were also a bit shorthanded as they were missing their all-conference post Alyssa Pili, who has missed the entire season so far with an ankle injury.
Now the Ducks will enter the toughest part of their schedule as they welcome No. 11 UCLA to Matthew Knight Arena Sunday afternoon at 1 pm before traveling to No. 1 Stanford Jan. 8.
After that road trip, the Ducks go to the desert to face No. 6 Arizona Jan. 14 and ASU Jan. 16.
