( Post Game ) MARIO CRISTOBAL DISCUSSES 41-38 LOSS TO THE BEAVERS – “It’s one that needs to sting, needs to hurt and needs to be used as fuel.”

Coming into Corvallis as a two touchdown favorite makes Friday nights loss to Oregon State sting even more.

The No. 15 ranked Ducks ( 3-1 ) were in a good place to remain undefeated however in rivalry games you just never know what could happen.

And what happened was Beaver running back Jermar Jefferson who torched the Ducks for 226 rushing yards on 29 carries and 2 big scores.

Mario Cristobal and his Ducks aren’t used to losing, especially to their in-state rival. Until Friday, Oregon hadn’t lost a regular season conference game since losing to Arizona State last season on November 23rd by a score of 31-28.

The Ducks had also won 11 of the last 12 meetings with OSU, including three straight games.

“For us, it’s always about 1-0 each week,” said Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal after the game.

“That’s why the combination of the game itself, not being able to finish when we had an opportunity, the fact that it’s a rivalry — it’s one that needs to sting, needs to hurt and needs to be used as fuel.”
