AS ONE SEASON CLOSES, ANOTHER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER – With The Ending of March Madness, Fans Can Look Towards Spring Football

College football may have the best regular season in college sports as every game matters, but March Madness is the best postseason. The NCAA tournament is over with UConn being crowned the champions. Now fans from across the country can look towards the spring and fall in just around that proverbial corner.

Here in Oregon, the spring means plenty of wins at PK Park and Jane Sanders Stadium and of course, Hayward Field. Duck fans can also look toward Spring football practices culminating with the annual Spring Game at Autzen.

Dan Lanning and his Ducks get back to work this Tuesday morning with spring camp continuing after a short hiatus. Oregon will have plenty of storylines to its name as a number of incoming freshmen try to make an early impression on the coaching staff as well as veterans making the most of the few games remaining in their careers.

Oregon isn’t in a rare position, but not all schools have so much going on this spring that is worth paying attention to. The spring term is just as busy as any other season. Many eyes will be on Lanning’s team in his second year at the helm. What kind of changes or improvements will he implement and will they work?

Lanning is a detailed-oriented guy and he has looked at every single aspect of the previous spring practices and has figured out what needs changing and just as importantly, what needs to be left alone.

The Ducks had a tremendous season in Year 1 of the Lanning Era and if quarterback Bo Nix doesn’t tweak his ankle late in the season, they could have very easily gone to the Rose Bowl.

This 2023 season might be the last college football season as we know it as the NCAA could expand the playoff system to as early as 2024. They want their own version of March Madness for the gridiron, which will generate hundreds of millions of dollars for schools across the country and naturally, the Ducks should be in the middle of it in the near future.

Oregon didn’t bring in Lanning so he could come out to the west Coast and fly fish. He was brought in to win championships and that journey for the Ducks begins now.
